ORLA Advocacy Update
Throughout the trying months of 2020 the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association worked on local, sate and federal levels to advocate for businesses within the hospitality industry. Among their many actions were:
- Worked with the OLCC to gain support for to-go cocktails and develop flexible payment plans for licensing.
- Coordinated with media outlets and businesses across the industry to increase visibility of the issues effecting restaurants, bars and lodging establishments.
- Advocated for the extension of moratoriums on commercial rent and mortgages.
- Launched a Legal Defense Fund to fight inequities faced by businesses within the hospitality industry due to the pandemic.
- Led the effort to secure over $55 million in grants for small businesses in Oregon.
Further details on these and other actions taken over the last year can be found in the PDF entitled “ORLA Outcomes” available on their website. Regular updates will also be posted as they continue to advocate for those within the in industry during 2021.
